Buxton Film Festival - 'Open Shorts' - 2010

‘Open Shorts’ is our 'open' short film competition. Anyone and everyone can enter this competition. Whether you are a student of film, a budding movie maker, have something important to say or simply want to do something creative with your digital camera, we will show your film.

There is an entry fee of £10 to show that your are serious and we review the films to ensure that audiences know what they are about to receive!

First prize will receive £50 and the closing date, this year, is 1st May 2010.

Open Shorts - Terms and Conditions

1. Submitters are responsible for obtaining any and all necessary permissions and copyrights, including permissions from people appearing in the film and use of clips not produced by you.

2. All Entrants must be Amateur

3. All films must be submitted in an acceptable PC Windows Formats on CD or DVD or standard DVD format

4. Films previously submitted to the ‘Open Shorts’ competition will not be accepted.

5. All Films must be submitted with the entry fee of £10 per film. Each entry must also include a synopsis of the film in a separate document. The entry fee is not refundable once the programme has been agreed by the organisers.

6. Additional material relating to the film can be submitted including still images. This material may be used for promotional material and programmes. Such material will not be returned unless prior arrangement has been made.

7. There is no restriction on the age of films entered or the number entered by an individual.

8. Films cannot exceed 20 minutes.

9. Films must be submitted for selection by May 1st 2010.

10. All Films will be reviewed for content and the organisers reserve the right to refuse entry of a film. In this instance your fee will be returned.

11. The adjudicators will produce a short list of the best films. The top 3 will be published and the winner will receive £50. All decisions of the reviewers are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

12. While all due care will be taken with your entries, the organisers cannot accept or assume responsibility for damage to or loss of any materials submitted.
