Submissions for the 2012 'Open Shorts' are now Open

‘Open Shorts’ is our 'open' short film competition. Anyone and everyone can enter this competition. Whether you are a student of film, a budding movie maker, have something important to say or simply want to do something creative with your digital camera, our aim is to show your film.

There is an entry fee of £10 to show that your are serious and we review the films to ensure that audiences know what they are about to receive!

All selected Films will be screened as part of the Buxton Festival Fringe in July 2012.
Winning / commended films will be programmed in our Film Festival in November at the new Pavilion Arts Centre in Buxton.

All Films will be reviewed and you will be notified within three weeks whether your film has been chosen as an 'Official Selection'. However, all films submitted will be screened subject to our terms conditions (see below)

Open Shorts - Terms and Conditions

1. Entrants are responsible for obtaining any and all necessary permissions and copyrights for the submitted film and its soundtrack, including permissions from people appearing in the film.

2. All films must be submitted in an acceptable PC Windows format on CD / DVD or standard DVD format.

3. Films previously submitted to the ‘Open Shorts’ competition will not be accepted.

4. All Films must be submitted with the entry fee of £10 per film. Each entry must also include a synopsis of the film. The entry fee is not refundable once the programme has been agreed by the organisers.

5. Additional material relating to the film can be submitted including still images. This material may be used for promotional material and programmes. All material submitted will not be returned unless prior arrangement has been made.

6. There is no restriction on the age of films entered or the number entered by an individual.

7. Films cannot exceed 20 minutes.

8. Films must be submitted for selection by May 1st 2012

9. All Films will be reviewed for content and the organisers reserve the right to refuse entry of a film. In this instance your fee will be returned.

10. The adjudicators will review all submissions. There will be an award for overall winner of the Competition . Other entries will be considered as ‘Commended’ by category. You will be informed of this decision within three weeks of the closing date. All decisions of the reviewers are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

11. All films accepted for screening will be scheduled for viewing in July 2012 during the Buxton Fringe and may be selected for screening at the Buxton Film Festival in November 2012.

12. While all due care will be taken with your entries, the organisers cannot accept or assume responsibility for damage to or loss of any materials submitted.
