Buxton Film's goal is to screen good films which are not given a general release in cinemas in the UK.
Our choices are wide ranging and include films from European and World cinema which do not get the 'airing' in most cinemas. We also, occasionally, like to show a classic!

The Closing Date for Submissions is

Films submitted into the 'Open Shorts' competition will be screened as part of the Buxton Fringe in July 2012.
Selected Entries will be screened in the Buxton Film Festival in November 2012

2012 Film Festival moves to November
Next Year's Films Festival is moving from the July to November.
The 'Open Shorts' short film competition will remain as part of the Buxton Fringe with the best shorts being screened later in the year as part of the Film Festival.
The Film Festival will be held at the new Pavilion Arts Centre and will be a combined effort of Buxton Film and the Buxton Opera House.

Films every Thursday in the Paupers Pit!

Thursday is Film Night
in the Paupers Pit. Apart from the occasional film screened by Transition Buxton, Buxton Film now screens films every Thursday in the Paupers Pit at the Old Hall Hotel in Buxton.
